Eligibility Rules for Vacation Club Points in the Holding Account

A Holding Account tracks Vacation Club Points that have incurred a penalty as the result of the shortening of a stay for less than the Reservation Window allows or the cancellation of a reservation within 60 days of arrival and after only be used to confirm reservations within 60 days of arrival.

Vacation Club Points placed in a Holding Account need to be used before the expiration of the usage year, otherwise, they expire. Holding Points can be used for the following as long as travel is within 60 days:

  • Marriott Vacation Club® Resorts
  • Explorer Collection including Marriott Vacation Club Resort Local Experiences
  • Waitlists
  • Exchange Partner Resorts
Holding Points cannot do the following:
  • Bank, borrow, or transfer
  • Trade for Marriott Bonvoy points
  • Apply to an External Exchange Credit
  • Purchase travel protection
  • Use for Active Explorer Golf Certificates or the Marriott Golf Academy
  • Use to book airfare
Note: Holding points can be used for an Internal Exchange that is 60 days in advance or less.
