Eligibility Rules for Club Points* in the Holding Account

A Holding Account tracks Club Points that have incurred a penalty as the result of the shortening of a stay for less than the Reservation Window allows or the cancellation of a reservation within 60 days of arrival and after only be used to confirm reservations within 60 days of arrival.

Club Points placed in a Holding Account need to be used before the expiration of the usage year, otherwise, they expire. Holding Points can be used for the following as long as travel is within 60 days:
  • Marriott Vacation Club℠ Resorts
  • Explorer Collection
Holding Points cannot do the following:
  • Bank, borrow, or transfer
  • Trade for Marriott Bonvoy™ points
  • Use for Active Explorer Golf Certificates or the Marriott Golf Academy
  • Use to book airfare
  • Use for an exchange credit or pending request with Interval International®

*"Club Points" means Points in Marriott Vacation Club Destinations™, Bali Nusa Dua Gardens, Club Points in Marriott Vacation Club®, Asia-Pacific, Club Points in Marriott Vacation Club Destinations™, Australia.
